My Story
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Debria is a southern transplant by way of Memphis, Tennessee, where she worked in Accounting for Kimberly Clark for over 25 years and then in Accounts Services for another ten years at Georgia Pacific before transferring to Huntsville, Alabama. However, Debria’s faith and belief in serving her community have always been driving forces in her life. Her drive to share her faith and spread love to those who were in need prompted her to attend the C.H. Mason Bible College, where she received certificates and diplomas from the Missionaries and Auxiliary Institute in the Jurisdiction as Deaconess and licensure as an Evangelist Missionary. Other Secondary Education includes Loyola University and the University of Phoenix, where she studied Accounting.
Debria has served in many capacities in both the district, regional, and international levels of the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) including receiving the distinct honor of appointment to Vice President of the Mother’s Board, Co-Chairperson of Sanctuary Choir, Director of Praise Team, Youth Dance Council, Sunday School Teacher of all levels, Sunday School Director, Youth Department Director, YPWW President, and Teacher, Director of Education, worship leader, and choir member.
For many years, she spearheaded community events from within the church.
Currently, she serves as District Missionary on the District level and has been a faithful member at of her local church Mother’s Board. Much to her enjoyment, she has also served at BHWC on the worship team, as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, Children’s church volunteer and assistant director of Christian Education.
Recently retired after an additional eleven years at Georgia Pacific, Debria has more time to focus on serving the community. Debria is a co-founder of SHEpowHERs and is looking forward to all the work she can do to empower women.
Debria is a mother of two children, their spouses, and nine grandchildren. Her greatest joy is spending time with her family.
